About Jon Malmsäter

Jon Malmsäter is a Stockholm, Sweden born, Cayman Islands Resident, Serial Entrepreneur, Deal-Maker, Art-Lover, Fitness Freak and Amateur DJ, who also dabbles with the piano and the drums. Mr. Malmsäter started his first company at the rather tender age of eighteen and simply cannot stop himself from seeing new opportunities on a daily basis. Presently Mr. Malmsäter is mainly focussing on the energy supply to data centres and the Arts. His passion for Renaissance Masters led to recent successful sale of the most valuable drawing ever sold, a portrait attributed to Leonardo da Vinci.

Mr. Malmsäter is the creator of several companies he has conceived, all focussing on investment management and trading. He is the Founding Partner of Mangold Fondkommission, a Swedish Investment Bank, www.mangold.se, and also a Founding Partner of Optimized Portfolio Management, Stockholm AB, which was sold to Carnegie Asset Management in 2017.

Mr. Malmsäter has been in Investment Banking since 1987 and has specialised in trading utilising cutting edge Financial, Statistical and Systems theory both as an entrepreneur and in renowned investment banks. He is the founder of Tradelab Systems and ORC Tradelab Robotic Trading (both companies were sold to ORC Software, a publicly listed Swedish trading technology firm, in Autumn of 2003). Before 1999, Mr. Malmsäter held several senior positions in investment banking: In 1998 he started the Equity Trading Operation at Nordea Securities.

Between 1997 and 1998 he held the position of Managing Director at European Equity Trading Bankers Trust, London. Before being head-hunted to Bankers Trust, Mr. Malmsäter was Managing Director of European Equity Derivatives Trading at Bear Stearns International, London where he started the trading of European equity derivatives. Mr. Malmsäter began his career at O’Connor and Associates, a Chicago based derivatives trading firm which was bought by Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS) in 1992. Mr. Malmsäter co-founded Arbitech AB in 1987 which was a joint venture between O’Connor and Investor AB, the investment arm of the Swedish Wallenberg Family. Jon Malmsäter holds a Master of Science from the Stockholm School of Economics in Finance and Statistics as well as a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Uppsala in Russian and Eastern European Studies. He is fluent in eight languages.

Jon Malmsäter, an only child himself, is the proud father of Lydia Emma Marie, who resides in Madrid, Spain, where Emma runs her own wildly successful translation business.

Jokingly, Mr. Malmsäter maintains that there has been a one-child policy in his Mother’s Family for hundreds of years before the Chinese Communists stole the concept.
